Lotto Max costs $6 per play and gives you four selections of seven numbers from 1 to 52, with draws every Tuesday and Friday. The game was redesigned from the draw on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, when the price rose from $5 to $6 for the first time since 2009 and the top jackpot rose to $90 million.
How a play and the jackpot work
Each $6 play gives you four chances at the jackpot: four sets of seven numbers, each chosen from 1 to 52. Seven winning numbers are drawn, and your prize depends on how many of them one of your sets matches.
Jackpots start at $10 million and can grow to $90 million. Once the jackpot is over $50 million, extra MAXMILLIONS prizes of $1 million each are drawn as well.
The $100,000 prizes and EXTRA
Every draw also has $100,000 prizes, one for each $1 million of jackpot. At a $10 million jackpot there are 10 of them, and at $90 million there are up to 90. So a bigger jackpot also means more second-tier winners.
For $1 more, you can add EXTRA to your play. It has a top prize of $250,000 and runs on the same draws as Lotto Max.
What the odds mean
The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 33,446,140. The odds of winning any prize are 1 in 5.8, so a prize of some kind is common while the jackpot is extremely rare.
Those numbers are worth keeping in mind. Buying more plays raises your chances only slightly against odds that large, so set a lottery budget you are comfortable losing and stick to it, whatever the jackpot size.
