Daily Grand is a $3 lottery where you pick five numbers from 1 to 49 plus a Grand Number from 1 to 7. Draws are on Monday and Thursday, and the top prize is $1,000 a day for life or a $7 million lump sum.
How a play works
Every play has two parts: five main numbers chosen from 1 to 49, and one Grand Number chosen from a separate pool of 1 to 7. The prize you win depends on how many main numbers you match and whether you also match the Grand Number.
For $1 more, you can add EXTRA to your play.
The two lifetime prizes
The top prize goes to a play that matches all five numbers and the Grand Number. It pays $1,000 a day for life, or a $7,000,000 lump sum instead. The odds are 1 in 13,348,188.
The second prize goes to a play that matches all five numbers but not the Grand Number. It pays $25,000 a year for life, or a $500,000 lump sum. The odds are 1 in 2,224,698.
The choice between annual payments and a lump sum is a personal one. The lump sum gives flexibility at once, while the lifetime payment spreads the prize over the years. Getting independent financial advice before choosing is sensible.
The odds of winning something
The odds of winning any prize are 1 in 6.8. The most common win is also the smallest: matching only the Grand Number, which has odds of 1 in 12, wins a free play.
Those numbers show how the game is built. Small prizes are frequent, while the lifetime prizes are extremely rare. Buying more plays raises your chances only a little, so treat each ticket as the cost of the entertainment and set a lottery budget you are happy to spend.
